Welcome to the Novel & Short Story Writer's Market Web page!

For the last several years, many of you have asked when NSSWM will go online. We here at Writer's Digest Books have heard your suggestions, and we're doing our best to meet your needs. Our first priorities are the relaunch of WritersMarket.com and WritersDigest.com. The page you are now viewing is the initial step in bringing NSSWM to the digital age. (Hellooooooo Internet!)

We put up this page to let you know we're here and to give you the opportunity to stay connected to us via our new monthly newsletter and blog. We're excited to offer you this free service so that we can keep you informed about changes in the fiction publishing industry throughout the year.

As always, we're dedicated to making the most comprehensive and accurate print edition possible. Each year, NSSWM combines craft and business instruction, inspiration, and publishing information. The 2008 edition features over 1,350 listings for literary agents, book publishers, magazines, contests, and conferences-all the information you need to submit your fiction to publishers, and all at your fingertips.

In addition, you'll find interviews with acclaimed writers including Percival Everett, Sigrid Nunez, Lisa See, Kelly Link, James Alexander Thom, John Connolly, Brian Freeman, Cheryl Holt, Beverly Bartlett, and comics heavy-hitters Greg Rucka, Gail Simone, and Colleen Doran. You'll discover if your novel has what it takes to survive the slush pile, if and when you should hire a publicist, tips for overcoming rejection and boosting your mood, and the ins and outs of coauthoring-and that's just getting warmed up. I'm really excited about this year's book, and I hope you will be too.

Thanks for visiting our Web page. Drop us a line and let us know how we can better serve your writing life. We're always happy to hear from you.

Best regards,
Lauren Mosko and Michael Schweer, editors
